Instructions

    • 1

Measure the distance from the top of the steps to the bottom. Purchase the proper railing based on your measurements. Choose a railing that conforms to the slope of your stairs.

    • 2

Mark where the rail legs hit the stairs. Mark each of the screw holes in the rail legs with a pencil or marker. Make sure to position the railing at least 2 inches from the edges of the steps to prevent them from cracking or breaking when you drill through the concrete.

    • 3

Drill through the marked points on the steps with the masonry bit. Wear ear and eye protection as well as a dust mask while drilling through the concrete.

    • 4

Screw the railing anchors in place with a power screwdriver and 2- to 3-inch-long screws. Some anchors feature nuts and bolts rather than screws; these can be fastened with a wrench.

    • 5

Slide the railing into the anchors. Secure the railing to the anchors with the enclosed screws or whatever attachment system is featured with your railing system. Tighten the screws or bolts as much as possible for the greatest safety.
