"Mouseketeer" was the title given to children who appeared on Disney's "The Mickey Mouse Club." It originally aired in the 1950s, with revivals in both the 1970s and the 1990s. Mouseketeers were well known for their trademark uniforms. These uniforms are easy to re-create for any costume party and offer instant recognition and nostalgia. A Mouseketeer costume can be created very inexpensively, using clothes that you probably already have.
Things You'll Need
- White or beige shirt or sweater
- Black iron-on letters
- Pants or skirt
- Mickey Mouse hat with ears
- Computer and printer
Lay the sweater or shirt onto a flat surface.
Peel off black iron-on letters and spell your first name across the breast of the shirt.
Iron the letters onto the shirt, following the instructions on the letter package.
Put on the shirt along with a pair of black or gray pants (boys) or black or gray and white pleated skirt (girls).
Finish the costume with a Mickey Mouse hat with ears. On the show, Mouseketeers wore either a white "M" on the front of the hat or a round Mickey Mouse Club patch. Print and cut one of these out and glue it to the cap.
