- Spoon or spatula
- Gallon freezer bag (optional)
- Sealable plastic container with lid (optional)

Scrape the cream-cheese frosting out of the mixing bowl using a spoon or a spatula and place it in your desired storage container. Use an airtight gallon freezer bag, sealable plastic container and lid, or a bowl.

Seal the container by pressing the bag closed, closing the container with a lid, or tightly sealing a bowl with plastic wrap.

Place the container with frosting into a refrigerator.

Tips & Warnings
Frosting should be held for only three days. The frosting can be used cold to frost baked goods. If you are using a plastic freezer bag to store the frosting, cut the corner and use it to ice a cake directly from the bag.
According to baking911.com, cream-cheese frosting must be refrigerated to prohibit harmful bacteria growth that can result in food-borne illnesses. The storage container must be airtight to avoid drying out the frosting or allowing the frosting to absorb odors and flavors from the refrigerator.
