Moringa is a very resilient species of tree which grows under very harsh conditions. It draws up water into its thick root and stem and produces an abundance of fruit that are edible as a vegetable.   • Area of land
  • Mechanical excavator
  • 25 tons sludge
  • Mobile sludge tanker
  • 100 moringa oleifera seeds
  • Measuring tape
  • Spade
  • Watering can
  • 2 gallons water

Instructions

  1. Marking Out of Dewatering Area

    • 1

      Measure a rectangular area of land 15 feet by 30 feet using the measuring tape. Mark the corners with the marking pegs.

      Using the mechanical excavator, dig the soil out of the dewatering area to a depth of 18 inches.

      Using the mechanical excavator, place the soil on the edge of the rectangular area to create a raised lip.

    Fill Dewatering Area With Sludge to be Dewatered

      A sludge tanker is required to transport sludge safely.

      Fill the mobile sludge tanker with sludge and drive to the dewatering area.

      Pump the sludge into the dewatering area, ensuring even coverage and depth. Depth should not exceed 10 inches.

      When the level of the sludge drops in the dewatering area, refill it.

Tips & Warnings

  • When the sludge has been sufficiently dewatered, more can be added to the treatment area. Moringa will not grow in cold or temperate climates.

  • Sludge can be toxic and care must be taken when working with or around it.

  • Do not overfill the treatment area above the prescribed level.
