Instructions

    • 1

Purchase tablecloths in the colors of typical gumballs: red, blue, yellow, pink and green. Purchase paper plates, cups and napkins in one of these colors, and plastic cutlery in another.

    • 2

Purchase large clear plastic or glass vases. You will need at least five for a candy bar, and one as a centerpiece for each table. Make sure the vases are wide enough that a scoop can be used to take candy from them. Also, purchase five scoops for the five candy bar vases and white paper bags that guests can fill with candy.

    • 3

Fill each centerpiece vase with layers of colorful candy. Layer one candy about two inches thick and move onto the next color. Continue layering colors until the vases are full.

    • 4

Fill each candy bar vase with a type of candy. Keep a scoop with each vase, so guests can scoop their own candy. Once at the wedding shower, place the vases near each other on a table so they can act as a decoration.

    • 5

Bake candy colored cupcakes for dessert. Purchase vanilla cake mix, separate it into different bowls and dye the batter in each bowl a different candy color. Color the frosting in candy colors as well, or mix colorful sprinkles into vanilla icing. The cupcakes can be purchased, if you prefer.

    • 6

Make an announcement that all guests should write down the names of as many types of candy as they can in two minutes. Provide them with paper and pens at the tables. After the game ends, ask the people at each table to figure out which person has the most candy names written down. The winner at each table wins the centerpiece.

    • 7

Provide wedding shower guests with white paper bags. Direct them to the candy bar and tell them to take whatever candy they'd like, as they leave the wedding shower.

Tips & Warnings

  • If your budget allows, purchase personalized stickers to put on the white paper bags. Phrases such as "Life is sweet: Lisa's Wedding Shower" or "Candy is sweet but love is sweeter: Katie's Wedding Shower" are appropriate.

  • Play candy themed wedding shower games and other candy related activities (see resources).
