The fuses in the 2000 Honda Civic allow the electrical devices in the vehicle to perform properly.

The 2000 Honda Civic requires several fuses for dashboard instruments such as the radio, the air conditioning unit and the instrument cluster. These fuses are contained in two different fuse boxes: the underhood fuse box and the passenger compartment interior fuse box. If any of the fuses are blown out, you should replace them immediately. A fuse is blown if the thin metal wire inside the fuse, known as the filament, is broken into one or more pieces.

Instructions

  1. Underhood Fuse Box

    • 1

Turn off the engine on your 2000 Honda Civic and open the hood. Locate the underhood fuse box at the rear of the engine compartment on the passenger's side.

    • 2

Remove the fuse box cover by pressing in on the two plastic tabs and pulling the cover off.

    • 3

Remove the fuse puller from the underside of the fuse box cover. Locate the fuse numbered "3." This is the interior light fuse. If the fuse is blown, use the fuse puller to remove it from the fuse box.

    • 4

Install a new 7.5-amp fuse in place of the blown fuse. Place the cover back onto the fuse box and close the hood.

    Interior Compartment Fuse Box

    • 5

Turn off the engine if it is running. Locate the fuse box underneath the steering column.

    • 6

Twist the two knobs on the cover counterclockwise to remove the cover. Locate the fuses numbered "2," "8" and "18." These are the heater, radio and accessory power socket fuses. If any of the fuses are blown, pull them out with the fuse puller.

    • 7

Install replacement fuses if necessary. The heater requires a 20-amp fuse and the other two use 7.5-amp fuses.

    • 8

Place the cover back onto the fuse box.
