Toys for Tots is a not-for-profit organization helping families in need.

Toys for Tots is a not-for-profit public charity of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. The mission of the organization is to collect new, unwrapped toys from October through December each year and distribute them to families in need. There are local chapters around the country, including one in Pinellas County, Florida. Parents who need help giving their children gifts at Christmas time can register to receive gifts. Only those families that receive state assistance qualify for the program. Organizations can help the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve collect toys by becoming a drop site.

Instructions

  1. Request Toys

    • 1

      Contact the Pinellas County Toys for Tots chapter. As of 2011, the contact is Ray Maya. He can be reached at 727-484-5060. Inform the contact of your need for assistance.

      Register your child or children. You will need to provide picture identification for yourself and Social Security cards for yourself and children you are registering and show proof that you are receiving state assistance (food stamp, Medicaid or Women, Infants and Children (WIC) card).

      Pick up your toys at the annual toy giveaway. The distribution day varies from year to year. Once you register, you will be notified of the giveaway day.

    Become a Drop Site

      Go to the Toys for Tots website and select "Florida" in the "Find a Local Campaign Office" drop down menu.

      Select "Pinellas County" in the "Location" drop box. You will be redirected to the local chapter's website.

      Click the "Become a Toy Drop Site" link on the right side of the page.

    • 7

      Complete the "Toys for Tots Toy Drop Sites" form. You will need to provide your organization's name, address, phone number, email address and give the name of the person who should be contacted. Click "Submit" when done. Someone from the organization will contact you about becoming a drop off site.
