How Children Can Show a Pastor Appreciation

How Children Can Show a Pastor Appreciation thumbnail
Written acknowledgments are among the ways your child can show appreciation to his pastor.

October is National Clergy Appreciation Month. Your church may have dedicated one Sunday to show appreciation to them. Help your child to show her appreciation through things she can make or do herself. It is important that children understand the role their pastor plays in their church and their lives. Small tokens of appreciation given by children mean a lot to pastors when given out of gratitude and thankfulness.

Instructions

Draw a picture for your pastor. Depict through pictures what he means to you. You could even draw a picture of him preaching, or you learning in Sunday school. Put it in a nice envelope with his name on it and mail it to his office.

Write a note, letter or card for your pastor. Tell him what you have learned from his sermons, how much you like listening to the service, and how he has helped you to grow spiritually.

    • 3

Make a yummy gift for the pastor. Cookies, brownies or his favorite cake are all things that can be made at home. Ask your parents for help if you need to use the oven or stove. Bake on Saturday and bring the gift to church the next day.

Learn a song or poem in your Sunday school class that you can sing or recite for the pastor. Make it a surprise during the service; the pastor will appreciate the hard work you put into memorizing something for him.
