Instructions

    • 1

Measure the circumference from the top of your head to below your chin with the tape measure. Cut two three-inch-wide strips from the green felt that each measure the same length as the head-circumference measurement.

    • 2

Sew two 12-inch pieces of the 1" green ribbon to the narrow ends of one green felt strip.

    • 3

Draw five petal shapes out on the tag board with the permanent marker that are approximately four inches wide and seven inches long. Add two more inches at the bottom of each petal for a tab to create a tag-board petal that is a total of nine inches long. Cut away the excess felt from the petal shapes with the scissors.

    • 4

Glue one side of the five nine-inch petal shapes to one yard of the flower petal-colored felt with the craft glue. Cut around the edges of the tag-board shapes, creating five flower petals covered on one side with felt.

    • 5

Glue pieces from the second yard of flower petal-colored felt on the top seven inches of the second side of the tag-board flower petals, leaving the two-inch tab at the bottom uncoated. Trim away excess felt, until you have five felt-covered flower petals with two inches of exposed tag board on the bottom of one side of each petal.

    • 6

Sew the tabs of the felt flower petals along one edge of the green felt strip to which the ribbons are attached, with the exposed tag board facing in towards the felt, using the green thread in the sewing machine.

    • 7

Glue the second green felt strip to the first, sandwiching the flower petal tabs and the sewed ends of the ribbon between the strips. Reinforce the headpiece by sewing a seam around the edges of the green felt strips. Bend the flower petals gently so they curl over top of the green felt strip rather than forward.

    • 8

Cut leaf shapes out of the leftover green felt scraps. Sew the green felt leaves onto the green, long-sleeved bodysuit.

    • 9

Put on the green tights and felt leaf-covered bodysuit. Paint your face with yellow face paint to represent the yellow center of the flower. Tie on the felt flower-petal headpiece and secure it with the ribbon straps.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure to curl each petal carefully in the appropriate direction, as the tag core in the center of each petal will become floppy if bent too often.

  • A tag-board core can also be added to the interior of the green felt strip to create a firmer shape.
