How to Engrave on Resin Bangles

How to Engrave on Resin Bangles thumbnail
Engraving resin bangles adds a fun, personal touch.

Resin bangles are made from chunks, bands or beads of resin, colored with different dyes and textures. Resin bangles often have a cloudy or pearly texture that goes with a variety of outfits and colors. You can add engraving to a resin bangle easily and simply using a craft drill. The main problem with engraving resin is that too much pressure or drilling will cause the resin to crack or break in half. A light amount of pressure is the best to engrave the bangle, without the danger of damaging the bangle. Engraved resin bangles add a personalized touch to gifts and jewelry.

Instructions

    • 1

Draw the outline of the pattern or words that you want to engrave on the bangle, using a permanent marker. Only make the lines as thick as the engraving you wish to achieve. Thin lines are easiest to engrave, without damaging the bangle.

    • 2

Attach the engraving tool to the craft drill. Plug the drill into the wall, and don eye and mouth protection to prevent the resin dust from getting into your eyes and mouth.

    • 3

Press the drill tip gently on the markings on the bangle. Allow the pressure and weight of the drill to make the cut. Try to make the cuts less than 1/8 of an inch deep. If you make the cuts too deep, you could crack the bangle or even break it in half.

    • 4

Blow out any dust from inside the engraving. Use a soft brush to remove any remaining resin dust particles.

    • 5

Paint over the engravings with resin sealer. This will help strengthen the bangle and prevent any more of the inside resin of the bangle from falling out. You can fill the resin up to the main level of the rest of the bangle or leave the engraving texture. Allow the sealer to dry for 24 hours, before wearing the bangle.
