  • Putty knife

      Obtain a piece of wallpaper that matches the wallpaper needing repair. Ensure that the piece is larger than the area you will patch.

      Tear the edges of the scrap piece with your hands. This will make the repair less noticeable when the patch is applied.

      Set the scrap piece aside and remove any large loose bits of wallpaper on the wall with your hands. Remove any smaller bits of wallpaper and any adhesive with a putty knife.

      Clean the area with a damp sponge. Allow it to dry thoroughly.

      Get your scrap piece and put a thin layer of adhesive on the back. Place the piece on the wall. Align the patterns of the wallpaper and the scrap piece as best you can before the adhesive dries.

      Smooth the patch with a damp sponge. Give the patch 15 minutes to dry. Run a roller over the patch. Remove any excess adhesive that may have come out with a damp sponge.
