How to Un-Crush a Ping Pong Ball

Keep the fun alive by fixing your dented ping pong balls.

When you are engaged in an intense game of table tennis, nothing can be more annoying and disheartening than your ping pong ball getting crushed. If that crushed ball was your last, then the fun may be brought to a screeching halt. But don't worry--you can easily uncrush dented ping pong balls using hot water.

Things You'll Need

• Small pot
• Water
• Wooden spoon

Instructions

1. Fill a small pot with water.

2. Bring the water to a boil. Remove it from the heat.

3. Submerge the dented ball into the water. Use a wooden spoon to push the ball into the water. Leave it there for a few minutes.

4. Allow the ball to rise to the top. It should be free of dents.

5. Remove the ball from the water using the spoon. Allow it to cool down before you play with it again.

Tips & Warnings

• If you do not let the ball cool completely before playing with it again, you may end up with more dents than you started with.
