Fresh corn on the cob is one of the best things about summer. Although corn can be boiled, roasted or grilled, baking the corn on the cob in the husks will result in juicy corn with a flavor that can't be beat. Serve the baked corn on the cob the traditional way -- with salt, pepper and butter -- or be adventurous and serve the succulent corn with chili powder, cayenne pepper, garlic salt, onion salt, oregano, lemon pepper, cilantro or basil.   • Bucket or basin
  • Corn on the cob
  • Baking sheet
  • Butter, salt, pepper or other seasonings

      Soak the corn on the cob in a bucket or basin filled with cold water for at least 30 minutes. Although the corn on the cob can be baked in the oven without soaking, soaking the corn first will prevent the corn from drying out in the oven.

      Preheat your oven to 425 degrees F. Drain the excess water from the corn on the cob, then place the corn on a baking sheet.

      Bake the corn on the cob for 20 to 30 minutes. Allow the corn to cool slightly, then peel the husk about halfway down the cob. The husk can be used as a handle to protect your hands while you eat the hot corn. Serve the hot corn on the cob with butter, salt and pepper.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you prefer not to soak the corn on the cob in water, the corn on the cob can be placed directly on the oven rack.
