Directions for a Wire Wrap Ring
Creating wire-wrapped rings is a craft that can be accomplished in a short amount of time, giving you the opportunity to wear an assortment of rings or give them as gifts. Your family and friends will be impressed when they discover that you have created these beauties on your own. There is an initial investment in a few basic tools, but after that, choose beads and jewelry wire and you are ready to begin your jewelry making project.
Things You'll Need
- 20 mm coin bead
- Gold or silver craft wire - 2 ½ feet long
- Ring mandrel
- Wire cutter
- Chain nose pliers or crimper tool

Thread the bead onto the craft wire to the halfway point.

Pinch the wires down until they are parallel extending beneath the bead.

Place the bead over the mandrel at a position one size larger than the ring size you want. For example, for a size 7 ring you will place the bead and wires at size 8.

Wrap each of the wires around the mandrel three times pushing the wires under the bead as you work. Wrap one wire at a time. Be careful that the wires do not cross one another.

Bend the end of the top wire downwards and the end of the bottom wire upwards.

Wrap each of these wires around the wire band three of four times keeping the wrapping close to the bead.

Clip the ends of the wires with your wire cutter.

Crimp the wires with the chain nose tool or crimper. This will smooth the rough end to prevent you from scratching your finger or snagging your clothes when you wear the ring.

Tips & Warnings
Wrap the wires tightly around the mandrel using firm pressure.
