How to Unclog a Sears Vacuum Cleaner Hose
You may notice when using your Sears Kenmore brand vacuum that it is not picking up dirt as effectively as it has before. This is likely due to a full bag or dirt cup, or perhaps a clog inside the vacuum hose. Check the bag or dirt cup and empty as necessary, according to the directions in your upright or canister-type model's owner's manual. Unclogging a Sears vacuum cleaner hose is a relatively simple task. Often the vacuum's suction removes the clog for you before you have to disconnect the hose from the unit. Does this Spark an idea?

Remove any attachments from the end of the hose. Turn the vacuum cleaner on and stretch the hose out straight. Removing any kinks is usually enough to allow the vacuum to remove the clog itself. Turn off the vacuum.

2
Disconnect the end of the hose from the canister or vacuum head. Most Sears Kenmore vacuums use a locking tab. You press in on the tab to disconnect the hose.

3
Take the hose outside or to a bath tub. Hold the hose upright and shake it up and down to dislodge the clog. Reach into the hose with tongs to remove a clog, if necessary.

Tips & Warnings
Do not use a wire hanger to remove clogs from the hose. These often creates holes inside the hose.
Some Sears vacuums have a "Suction Control" to increase suction near the end of the hose. Adjust the "Suction Control" for more power to remove clogs as needed.
