How to Make Mardi Gras Christmas Decorations
When it comes to decorating for Christmas you can get as creative as possible. Some opt to sticking to the traditional Christmas decorations while others go a different direction. How about having Mardi gras Christmas decorations? This will not out shine the Christmas theme, but mixing both styles can add a unique touch to your home during the holidays. Mardi gras uses masks, beads and bright colors and these styles can be incorporated to your traditional Christmas décor. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- 15 small plain masks
- Medium bag of loose rhinestones
- Dark green loose glitter
- Royal purple loose glitter
- Dark blue loose glitter
- 3 disposable plates
- Metallic blue paint
- Metallic royal purple paint
- Assorted colored feathers
- 30 bead necklaces
- Green Christmas garlands
- Hot glue gun
- All purpose glue
- 3 yards purple lace

Mask Ornaments

Paint the masks with the blue and royal purple metallic paint. Paint every other mask blue and every other mask royal purple. Let masks dry.

Pour blue, purple and green glitter in three different plates. Each plate has only one color of glitter.

Add a thin layer of all-purpose glue around the masks' eyes and on the edges. Place the mask with the glue facing the plate into the glitter color of your choice. Shake off the extra glitter back onto the bowl. Continue this step with all 15 masks alternating the glitter put on each mask.

Glue feathers on the left edge of one mask, and on another mask glue feathers in the top center portion of the mask. Feathers should stick up. Continue this process for all 15 masks.

To hang the mask ornament cut a 4-inch piece of purple lace. Glue one edge of the lace with the hot glue gun in the center of the mask. Glue the other edge to the center as well. Let the glue dry. Repeat the step for all 15 masks. Hang on the Christmas tree.
Beads

Hang 15 Mardi gras beads to the Christmas tree. These can be hung in whatever direction you like.

Cut 15 Mardi gras beads so they are now one string of beads. Wrap the strings of beads around the green garland.

Hang the garland around the house. Ideal areas to hang the garland would be on stair handrails, over coffee tables and over door ways.
