How to Make a Virtual Football Playbook
Like using email instead of post mail, virtual football playbooks can be easier to distribute than their paper-based counterparts. And whether you want to design a couple of plays to share with your intramural football team or you want to pass on plays to your assistants and players in a full contact league, you can find a strong selection of virtual football playbook utilities for free online.

1
Create a virtual playbook online with a free TeamOnThree account. The site's football playbook utility offers a solid selection of defensive and offensive formations, ranging from the shotgun formation to an empty backfield template. The utility's "Capture" option allows you to animate the movement of the player icons from one position to another -- simply move the icons to their next position and then click "Capture." When you're satisfied with your play, just click "Save" to store it to your playbook.

Download a free copy of A.S. Football Play Editor to create a virtual football playbook. A.S. Football Play editor features the ability to tag a name, jersey number and position to its circular, triangular and square player icons. You can draw both running routes and passing paths to show how the play should develop. You can store your plays in the program's virtual playbook, but you can also print them out if the need arises.

Design a virtual football playbook with the free play designer on FootballPlaybookOnline's website. With the free play design utility, you can build plays from 3-4 or 4-3 defensive formations and I Form or Pro Form offenses -- you can also use a blank template for either unit. Drop the X's and O's anywhere on the field and use the line to depict routes. And after you've created a play, just click on the "Create Image" button to generate downloadable image. However, you'll need to purchase a membership to store your plays online.
