How to Apply Lashes to a Barbie Doll

Adding eyelashes to your Barbie doll is an art that can be perfected with practice. Various ways exist to lash your doll, including applying doll lashes with glue, painting and rooting. Rooting is the most time-consuming method, as it requires you to individually thread each lash. Painting requires patience and precision, while applying previously-designed lashes requires a steady hand. With the addition of lashes, your Barbie will be that much more beautiful.

    Root Eyelashes

    • 5

Use a thread and a size 39 felting needle to root saran hair or mohair through the eyelid. Tie off the end of the lash and put a tiny drop of glue to seal your knot; this is called plugging.

    • 6

Thread one lash at a time through the eyelid, immediately above the crease. You will need to have each hair already cut to size. Root each lash, one at a time until you have a full eyelid.

    • 7

Trim the lashes to your desired length.

    Paint Eyelashes

    • 8

Use quick-drying paint to apply the appearance of eyelashes to your Barbie. Paint one eyelash at a time with a thin brush. Gently curve each lash from one corner of the eyelid to the other.

    • 9

Adjust the length so your longest eyelashes are at the center of the eyelid.

    • 10

Adjust the eyelash thickness to your preference.
