How to Use Bronze Paint on Resin Figures
When painting a resin figurine, your options are endless. You can finish the figurine with a color wash, adding just a hint of color, or opt for a bright rainbow of colors that will stand out. Bronze paint on figurines can be the base color or it can be used only as a highlight color to draw out certain features of the figurine. You can also use bronze acrylic paint to create an antiqued look for your figurine.
Things You'll Need
- Flat paintbrushes
- Round paintbrushes
- Water
- Bronze acrylic paint
- Spray sealer, if desired

1
Add water to the some of the bronze paint to create a slightly washed-out color that will make a good first coat for the figurine.
-
2
Paint the figurine with the diluted bronze paint. Use the flat brushes to paint the larger surfaces and the round brushes to paint the smaller, more detailed areas. If you want an antiqued look, allow bronze paint to pool in the crevices of the figurine.

3
Allow the first coat to dry thoroughly.
-
4
Paint the figurine again with the bronze paint but this time do not dilute it. Use the flat brushes and small brushes as you did before. You can wipe away excess paint on the most exposed surfaces to give the piece a "worn" look, or allow the paint to dry evenly for a newer looking figurine.
-
5
Allow the second coat to dry thoroughly.
-
6
Use the round brush to add shading to the bronze figurine. Mix a small amount of black paint with the bronze paint to darken it slightly. Use this new paint color in the crevices and dimples of the figurine to create shading. Use it sparingly at first, building the level of shading until you achieve the desired look.
