How to Install a Boxspring & Mattress
All beds include a mattress and a frame of some kind. A box spring is often placed underneath the mattress, and both are sold together as a set. Some beds come with a headboard and footboard, while others have a simple metal or wooden frame. Proper installation is important for a good night's sleep, and an uneven or improperly supported box spring and mattress could collapse and cause damage or injury. Always have a second person help with mattress and box spring setup. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Set up the bed frame according to the installation instructions. Be sure to use any extra supports included in the packaging, and check that the bed is level before adding the mattress and box spring.
-
2
Lay the box spring on top of the frame. The top of the box spring is usually easily distinguished from the bottom. Look for a label or place the more finished side up.

3
Place the box spring evenly on the side and center rails. It should be flush with the headboard. If there is extra length to the frame, the space should be kept between the box spring and the foot board. This will allow your comforter to fit easily over the end of the mattress.
-
4
Place the mattress directly on top of the box spring. It should sit in the middle with no overlap. If using a dust ruffle, place it between the box spring and the mattress.
-
5
Place a mattress cover over the mattress to protect against stains and to help keep fitted sheets from slipping off the corners of the bed.
-
6
Make the bed as usual.
