How to Adjust the Mat on a Weslo Treadmill
The running mat on a treadmill can easily become too loose, too tight or start to shift to either side. Since this is a common problem, treadmill manufacturers like Weslo have made these corrections easy to perform. The company makes two models -- one with a single-bolt adjustment, the other with two bolts. Look at the rear-right corner of your treadmill, at the bolt for the right rear roller. If that bolt has an Allen key head, follow the instructions for a two-adjustment bolt; if the bolt has a hex head, use the instructions for a one-adjustment bolt.

1
Decide what corrections need to be made. Unplug your Weslo treadmill, remove the console key and examine your mat from the rear of the unit.
-
2
Correct for shifting. If your mat has shifted to the left, insert your hex key into the bolt at the rear of the left roller assembly. Turn it one-quarter turn clockwise. If it has shifted to the right, turn the bolt behind the left roller one-quarter turn counter-clockwise.
Plug in your treadmill, reinsert your console key, and operate it for a minute or more to see if the correction was sufficient.
Continue this process until the belt is centered.

3
Tighten the mat properly. It should be 3 or 4 inches from the walking surface, when pulled upward from the center of the mat surface. Unplug your treadmill, pull out the console safety key and loosen the tension by turning the right rear tension adjustment bolt several turns clockwise. To loosen the belt, use several turns counter-clockwise. Play with this adjustment until the belt is the proper tension.

4
Plug in the treadmill, insert the key in the console and run the treadmill to see if any further corrections are needed.

Examine your walking mat from the rear of the unit and decide which corrections are needed. Unplug your Weslo treadmill and remove the safety key.

Correct for any shifting. If the mat has shifted to the left, insert your Allen key into the left rear bolt and turn it one-quarter turn clockwise, then insert the key into the right rear bolt and turn it one-quarter turn counter-clockwise. Plug in the treadmill, reinsert the console key and gauge the adjustment.
If the mat has shifted to the right, unplug the power, insert the safety key and turn the left rear bolt one-quarter turn counter-clockwise and the right rear bolt one-quarter turn clockwise. Repeat this step until the mat is centered.

7
Adjust the tension of the walking mat to 3 to 4 inches when pulled upward from the center. To tighten the mat, turn both rear bolts one-quarter turn clockwise. To loosen the mat, turn both bolts one-quarter turn counter-clockwise.
Power on your Weslo treadmill, insert the console key and run it for a few minutes to gauge whether it is properly centered and tightened.
