How to Use a Three-Way Baby Poser

Baby posers are used in professional studios to help photographers capture high quality pictures while ensuring the safety of the baby. The three-way poser is a multi-functional photography tool that can be purchased for use at home, so parents and other caregivers can take an endless number of pictures of their new baby as she grows.

Instructions

    • 1

Cover the baby poser with a decorative blanket, cotton fabric or any other covering you would like to use.

    • 2

Sit the baby upright in the seat of the three-way poser to take pictures of him in a sitting position. The foam material will help to "hug" the baby and keep him from sliding. You can place a small teddy bear in his arms or a Christmas present if you are taking pictures around the holidays. If he is tall enough, you can get his attention from behind and take pictures of him turning her head to look at you.

    • 3

Lay the baby down on her back along the long side of the three-way poser to take pictures in a reclining position. You can also lay her on her side on the reclining position of the three-way poser to get pictures of her all curled up. You can zoom in with the camera to capture adorable pictures of hands and feet sprawled out in this position as well. Drape a large ribbon over her for newborn pictures or have an older sibling lean his head in close for some memorable family photos.

    • 4

Lay the baby on his stomach near the top of the reclining position on the poser and gently raise his arms, so they are draped over the top of the poser. Tuck a teddy bear under his arm for him to snuggle with while you take some pictures. Drape a blanket over the top of his head for some peek-a-boo pictures and use dad's baseball cap or grandma's wide-brimmed hat for some adorable photos.

Place the three-way poser in or behind props, such as a half-barrel, old fashioned washtub, basket or treasure chest. You can also use a photo-editing program later to replace the blanket-covered poser with a large flower, cloud, swing or any other image.
