How to Make the Condor Paper Plane

How to Make the Condor Paper Plane thumbnail
The Guinness Book of World Records for holding a paper plane in flight is 27.6 seconds.

While many use paper airplanes for entertainment, the first paper planes were used as models in the creation of real airplanes. The Condor paper airplane is a model that can be constructed in a few steps. Although it flies at low speeds, this model is known for its smooth gliding and significant lift. It is also great for flying indoors.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the paper on a flat surface. Position the paper so that the 11-inch side is at the top.

    • 2

Fold each of the corners at the top of the paper into the middle evenly. Crease the folds after making sure they are even. The top of the paper should resemble a triangle.

    • 3

Fold the tip of the triangle to where the first two folded corners meet. This should cover any spaces. Crease the fold after checking that it is even.

    • 4

Fold the outside edges (wings) roughly an inch inward. Do not crease the folds as they may be changed in later steps to increase the airplanes flight.

    • 5

Fold the paper in half matching up the wings evenly. Fold the top of the wings upward, causing the wings created in step four to face up creating a winglet.

    • 6

      Fly the condor paper airplane.

Tips & Warnings

  • Tape can be placed on outside creases to protect the plane from the ground.

  • Placing tape on the creases can effect flying heights.
