Instructions

    • 1

Program your printer to the correct settings for computer-generated invitations or select a black calligraphy pen to write on the invitation paper.

    • 2

Begin the invitation as a wedding announcement, with the name of the bride's parents, as they will traditionally host the wedding and other wedding-related events. This should be followed by the daughter's first name. So, the beginning of the document should read something like this:

      Richard and Maryanne Spencer

      are pleased to announce

      the marriage of their daughter,

      Susanna

    • 3

Add the groom's full name, as well as the names of his parents to the wedding announcement. So far, the document should read:

      Richard and Maryanne Spencer

      are pleased to announce

      the marriage of their daughter,

      Susanna

      to

      Jake Collin Radcliffe

son of Mark and Katherine Radcliffe

State the date and location of the ceremony, and spell the details out completely. For instance, if the ceremony will be on May 22, 2013, and falls on a Sunday, the invitation should read:

"on Sunday, the twenty-second of May, two thousand and thirteen."

    • 5

Divide the bottom of the invitation into two columns if you're printing the invitations.

    • 6

Write or type the wedding ceremony location, which will traditionally be the local LDS temple.

    • 7

State that guests are invited to a reception, open house, or both, after the ceremony. This is ideal if you want non-Mormon friends and loved ones to share in your wedding celebration. Write or type the details (address, time and date) for the reception into the right bottom column, and include the information for the open house in the left.

    • 8

Include an RSVP on the lower left-hand corner of the invitation so that guests can confirm their attendance.

    • 9

Prepare an enclosure card to include in the wedding announcements for people you want to invite to the actual ceremony. This is only be for people who belong to the Mormon faith, as non-Mormons are not permitted in the temple. Include the temple location, date and time of the ceremony, as well as how early you want guests to arrive (like "please arrive 15 minutes early"). Space is limited in the sealing rooms of a Mormon temple and can usually only fit about 50 people. Reserve the enclosure cards for close family and friends.

    • 10

Include another enclosure card that invites loved ones to a wedding meal if you and your spouse decide to have a wedding breakfast, lunch or dinner that is separate from the reception. Add the location of the pre- or post-wedding meal, as well as the time, to the enclosure card.
