How to Put a Mod on "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas" for PC

Installing mods gives gamers the freedom to customize their in-game experience in a plethora of ways. User-made mods for "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas" include custom skins for cars, new weapons and vehicles, user interface tweaks and new missions. Because incorporating these changes into existing software is complicated, software has been developed that makes the process of installing mods as simple as browsing your local files. GTA San Andreas Mod Installer 1.1 is a free program that is available for download on a variety of fan websites.

Instructions

      Navigate to the Softpedia website and download the GTA San Andreas Mod Installer 1.1 installation files (see Resources). Once the files have completed downloading, double-click on the installer icon to launch the installation wizard. Follow the on-screen prompts as directed.

      Download the files for your mod. If the mod downloads as a .zip file, create a new folder on your desktop and extract the mod files to this new location. Name the folder after the mod.

      Launch the Mod Installer software. Click the arrow button in the main window labeled "Install a Mod."

      Specify the file directory that you wish to save the mod to. In most cases, the location of this directory will be "C:\Program Files/Rockstar Games\GTA San Andreas\". This location is only different if you have performed a custom install of the game.

      Select the mod folder created in Step 2 within the Mod Installer software. Click the button within the main window to begin the installation process. Your mod should take no more than a few minutes to install.
