How to Make a Simple Marble Game With Sticks

How to Make a Simple Marble Game With Sticks thumbnail
Marbles are hard objects generally used for personal entertainment.

Marbles are small, hard, round objects usually made of glass or clay. They can be thrown, tossed and rolled during marble games. The National Marbles Tournament has taken place in Wildwood, New Jersey every year since 1922. Competitors at this tournament play more than 1,200 marbles games to determine champions in different age groups. Making your own marble game with sticks allows you to play your version of marbles with your own materials.

Instructions

    • 1

Put your safety glasses on your face and your gardening gloves on your hands to protect them from wood splinters.

    • 2

Grab as many wood sticks as desired from around your neighborhood, in the woods or from a tree.

    • 3

Cut each of your wood sticks down to your desired size with your gardening shears. Place each stick into your shear's blades and press down on your shear's top handle to cut each stick.

    • 4

Remove the clay putty from its package. Put on enough putty to cover the bottom end of each of your wooden sticks. Push down lightly on the bottom end of each of your sticks to ensure they are connected to your putty.

    • 5

Find a smooth, flat surface, such as paved concrete. Place your wood sticks as desired around your surface. Push down on the clay putty at the bottom of each of your wood sticks. This ensures the putty attaches to the surface and keeps your sticks from moving during your game.

    • 6

Take out your marbles and play your game. An example of a game would be to stand a few feet away from all of your sticks, roll one marble at each stick and see how many sticks you can hit.

Tips & Warnings

  • Keep your shears pointing outward when walking or cutting with them. This ensures that if you fall over or run into something, such as a tree, the shears' blades will be pointing away from your body upon impact.
