How to Learn ASP.NET Online
Microsoft ASP.NET is a framework for building web applications. ASP.NET is part of the .NET family of tools. It is free from Microsoft. A plethora of resources are available to learn ASP.NET online, including tutorials, e-books, videos and forums. Developers use Microsoft Visual Studio to develop ASP.NET applications. Microsoft's official ASP.NET site is the best place to begin. Afterward, you can explore the wealth of other ASP.NET online learning offerings.

Navigate to Microsoft's official ASP.NET website (see Resources).

Click "Get Started" on the home page. Read the introduction to learn "What Is ASP.NET."

Click on the three-minute install video and view it for a preview of the installation process. Click "2. Download ASP.NET and Visual Studio Express Tools" to download the free software. Click "Install Now" to install the software to your computer. After the installation completes, return to the "Get Started" tab.

Click "3. Build Your First ASP.NET Web Application" to choose a programming model. Developers can use more than one method to develop ASP.NET applications. Click the link "Choose Your Programming Model" to watch the five-minute video, which will help you to choose the method that's best suited for you.

Click on the video "Create an App With ASP.NET Web Forms" to view the demo video. Click "Create an App With ASP.NET MVC" to watch the alternate demo video.

Practice by following the tutorial "4. Follow a Step-by-Step ASP.NET Tutorial." This tutorial will show you step by step, with screen shots, how to build a music store using one of the programming models.

Return to the "Get Started" tab. Proceed to "5. Learn More About ASP.NET" for additional practice tutorials using each of the programming models: web forms, MVC and AJAX.
