A Sport Jet is a type of boat that is manufactured by the Mercury Marine Corporation. This style of boat is desirable because it uses jet propulsion instead of propellers or skegs. This allows for shallow water navigation that propeller powered boats cannot handle. If you need to service your Sport Jet, you may want to pull it out of the water and work on the engine. You should never try to start this boat's engine out of the water without a flushing kit. It you tried to do this, you could seriously damage your engine. Purchase a dealer style flushing kit for your Sport Jet from a marine accessories dealer. There are consumer flushing kits available but those are not designed for starting your Sport Jet while it is connected to it.
Things You'll Need
- Dealer style flushing kit
- Garden hose
- Water source
Secure your Sport Jet in a stable area. Make sure your boat trailer is secured with blocks behind the tires and on level ground if possible. Go to the water pump cover and look at the rear starboard corner of the cover.
Turn the connector in a counterclockwise direction to disconnect the inlet water line.
Connect a garden hose to a water source on one end. Connect the other end of the hose to the inlet water line in a clockwise manner. Turn the water source on.
Turn the engine of your Sport Jet on by using the key start or the electronic push start button.
