How to Bake Scones in a Pan

How to Bake Scones in a Pan thumbnail
A hot scone is a delicious complement to any meal.

Scones are a wonderful treat for a snack, breakfast or even at dinner. Scones are usually prepared with a baking sheet, but it is possible to use a pan for scones. Part of a scone's identity is in fully cooked edges, so don't use a pan and simply fill it with scone batter. But you can use a scone pan -- specifically designed for scones, especially scones made from a mix -- or use a deeper pan in place of a baking sheet. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Prepare your scone batter according to recipe.

    • 2

      Grease scone pan.

    • 3

Fill wedges of scone pan if using a traditional scone pan. If using a normal baking pan, cut dough into triangles or rounds before putting batter into the pan, leaving space between so each scone can bake.

    • 4

      Bake according to recipe directions.

    • 5

      Remove from pan.

    • 6

Eat plain, with butter, jam or whipped cream as a topping.

Tips & Warnings

  • Cut in the butter or shortening, whichever your recipe calls for. It will greatly improve the texture of your scone.
