How to Make a Pokemon Wartortle Costume
In the "Pokemon" series, the turtle-like Pokemon Squirtle eventually evolves into the water Pokemon Wartortle. You can create a Wartortle costume through the use of items that you likely already have in your home. Do not allow young children to work on this project unsupervised. Keep a picture of Wartortle nearby so you can use it as a reference as you work on the costume. Remember to incorporate heavier clothing items, such as sweatpants, if you live in a cold climate.

1
Set a garbage bag or newspaper down on a flat surface, and place the blue shirt for the costume on top of it. Place tan fabric alongside the blue shirt. Keep a picture of Wartortle nearby as you trace the shape of its chest section onto the fabric. Use scissors to cut the shape out from the fabric. Position it on top of the chest of the blue shirt to check for fit. Place the tan fabric beside the shirt again.

2
Use black acrylic paint to create the divided sections of Wartortle's chest and allow it to dry. Apply a light layer of fabric adhesive to the back of the tan fabric cut-out and press it firmly against the chest of the blue shirt. Allow it to dry. Paint the fingertips of the blue gloves with white acrylic paint and wait for it to completely dry.

Use scissors to cut out ear shapes. Paint both sides of the cardboard blue, allowing each side to dry before you turn it over. Set the ears aside. Take a roasting pan and push a hole on either side at the top. Use brown acrylic paint to coat the entire roasting pan and allow it to dry. Paint the edges of the roasting pan white. String two different shoelaces through each hole.

4
Trace or draw an outline for Wartortle's tail on cardboard. Paint both sides of the tail white and allow it to dry. Punch a hole at the base of the tail and use shoelace or string to thread through the hole. Punch a hole in the bottom center of the roasting pan, and thread shoelace through that hole. Tie the shoelace. The tail should now be attached to the bottom of the roasting pan.

Cover the costume wearer's face with blue face paint, and use a darker blue to create the horizontal blue lines below Wartortle's eyes. Attach Wartortle's cardboard ears to a headband, and place the headband on top of the wearer's head. Dress in the blue shirt and blue pants, and place blue gloves on the hands. Ease shell onto the wearer's back and gently tie each shoestring at the top of the roasting pan beneath each armpit.
