How to Remove Body Oil From a Leather Chair

Leather cleaner will also remove lotions and hair products.

Body oil from hands, hair or any other body part that comes into contact with a leather chair can stain the leather. The body oil builds up on the leather surface, and you cannot remove it with soap and water. To clean body oil from a leather chair, you must use a leather cleaner and degreaser. These products have a pH that will not harm the leather, but are strong enough to break down the body oil.

Things You'll Need

• 2 tbsp. leather cleaner
• 2 tbsp. degreaser
• Microfiber cloth
• Terry cloth towel

Instructions

1. Dampen a microfiber cloth with 2 tbsp. of leather cleaner and degreaser. Rub the cleaner into the soiled area for 30 seconds. If the soiled area is larger than 12 square inches, rub the cleaner into each 12-square-inch area for 30 seconds.

2. Leave the cleanser and degreaser on the leather for two minutes.

3. Dampen a terry cloth towel with water and wipe down the surface of the leather chair to remove the cleanser. After each wipe, move to a clean spot on the towel so you don't spread the cleanser around.

4. Repeat the process if the towel continually comes up soiled when you are rinsing the leather chair.
