How to Make Powdered Laundry Detergent With a Food Chopper
Homemade laundry detergent is free from potentially allergenic chemicals and fragrances. You can also customize the detergent by using scented ingredients, if you are not sensitive to the fragrances. One of the main ingredients in homemade powder laundry detergent is bar soap, which you must finely chop in a food chopper, also known as a food processor. Things You'll Need
- 1 bar hypoallergenic soap
- Knife
- Food chopper
- 1 cup washing soda (sodium carbonate)
- 1 cup borax
- Plastic container

Cut a bar of hypoallergenic soap into quarters, and place them in the food chopper. Turn the food chopper on to its highest setting until the soap is finely chopped.

Take the lid off the food chopper, and add 1 cup of borax and 1 cup of washing soda. Replace the lid, and press the "pulse" button on the food chopper until the ingredients incorporate completely.

Pour the mixture into a plastic container with a lid. Use 1 to 2 tbsp. per load, dependent on the soil level of the clothes.
