Watching your DVD in progressive scan improves the quality.

The Slim PS2 plays DVDs just like its predecessor, the original PS2. Progressive scan is supported by both PS2 models, allowing playback of 480p for DVD movies. Turning on the progressive scan feature on the PS2 Slim can be troublesome because of a bug in the software. The progressive scan feature can be turned on manually for each movie with a simple process.

Instructions

      Put in a DVD movie into your Slim PS2. Wait for the movie to start playing.

      Press "Select" during the movie, to bring up the "DVD Menu."

      Stop the movie. Press the "Square" icon to stop the movie.

      Select the "Tool Box" icon in the control panel, by pressing the "X" button on it.

      Click "Progressive," to turn on progressive scan.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you cannot access the "Progressive" menu ensure the movie is fully stopped, try pressing stop again on the movie.

  • For the progressive scan to work, your PS2 must be connected to the TV using a component cable.
