How to Make Your Television's PIP Work

Picture in picture, or PIP, is a common feature on most TVs that makes it possible to see two channels at once. PIP opens a second channel on a small screen in one area of the TV's display while the first channel continues to show on the main display. PIP controls can vary slightly among different models and makes of TVs, but most of them can be set up in a few basic steps.

Instructions

1. Examine the TV remote control for PIP buttons. A typical remote will have a single "PIP" button. Other remotes have a group of buttons physically separated from the others with different PIP controls like "swap," "on/off," "position," or separate channel up and down controls.

2. Check the TV's front panel buttons for PIP controls if there are none on the remote.

3. Use the "on/off" button to enable and disable PIP.

4. Push the "swap" button to swap the channels displayed on the PIP window with the main TV display.

5. Use the "position" or "move" button to relocate the PIP window around the display. If the remote has independent channel up and down buttons, use them to change the channel on the PIP window without affecting the main TV channel.
