Create a Noah's ark centerpiece with clay pots.

A few clay pots and a little ingenuity combine to create a Noah's Ark centerpiece for a birthday party or a baby shower. The centerpiece is cute enough to display in your child's room after the party, or even to be played with by an older child. Let your imagination run wild as you turn tiny clay pots into animals, two by two.

Instructions

    • 1

Paint the 8-inch pot and the 10-inch saucer with medium brown acrylic paint. Draw a dry brush dipped lightly in darker brown paint through the wet paint to make a wood-like texture. Draw plank lines and nail holes with a black permanent marker.

    • 2

Hot glue the pot upside down in the saucer. Allow to dry. Mark and color in with the marker black rectangles for windows around the circumference of the pot. This is your Ark.

    • 3

Turn the small pots upside down. Hot glue a wooden ball or thimble shape to the bottom to make a head. Paint to look like animals. There should be two, one male and one female, of each species you choose. Use the foam sheets to cut out ears, snouts and tails to hot glue to the painted pots. Use pompoms for fluffy coats, ears or tails. Use a fine-tipped black marker to draw in facial details.

Make Noah and his family the same way you made the animals, using felt for a robe and yarn for hair. Bend a pipe cleaner to make Noah's crooked staff.

Set the Ark in the center of the table and surround with animals, Noah and his family.
