Glass Tile Necklace Instructions
Glass tile necklaces are made with a glass tile in which a decorative paper is adhered to the backside. The paper's design shows through the tile, giving the pendant the appearance that it has been painted on the back or is decorative colored glass. Different size tiles, from small squares to longer rectangles, including recycled lab slides, can be used. Types of paper used include printed clip art, scrapbook paper and origami paper.

Instructions

-
1
Measure and cut the paper to fit the back of the glass tile. It should be close to the same size but not extend past the tile's edges.
-
2
Lay the tile topside down on the work surface. The top side is usually smoother with beveled edges.
-
-
3
Apply a thin layer of liquid glaze on the glass and lay the cut paper over it with the printed side down.
-
4
Press and shift the paper until it is centered and secure on the tile. Wipe off any excess glaze from the glass edges with your finger tip, and allow the tile to sit until dry. Drying time varies depending on glaze and atmospheric conditions.
-
5
Drip drops of glaze over the tile's back, covering the paper with a thin layer of liquid glaze. It should be just enough to cover the surface but not spill over the edges. It will naturally spread out as you drip each drop of glaze.
-
6
Poke any air bubbles with a toothpick or straight pin. Allow the glaze to dry for 12 to 24 hours, or until the glaze is solid and clear.
-
7
Apply a drop of glue to the pendant bail and press it onto the tile's back. Let dry.
-
8
String the glass tile pendant onto a chain, cord or ribbon of your choice.
