How to Wire a Stereo Transmitter Jack

How to Wire a Stereo Transmitter Jack thumbnail
Wiring a stereo transmitter is a necessity for using wireless audio devices.

Stereo transmitters are wired devices that take the audio feed, and send it to headphones or remote speakers. These transmitters can be wired in conventional ways, using 3.5 millimeter, RCA, or digital audio jacks. As a result, wiring a stereo transmitter can seem familiar to anyone used to audio jacks, while remaining simple to first-timers.

Instructions

    • 1

Access the rear of the source device and the stereo transmitter. Locate the jacks chosen for sending the audio signal.

    • 2

Push the 3.5 millimeter, RCA, or optical/digital coaxial cable into the "OUT" jack on the source device. Route this cable to the "IN" jacks on the stereo transmitter device.

    • 3

Plug the audio cable into the transmitter. Turn the transmitter and source devices on to verify that the signal is successfully sent to the transmitter. This is normally indicated by a light on the transmitter. Alternately, turn on the headphones or other device receiving the signal from the stereo transmitter to verify the feed.

Tips & Warnings

  • Minimize use of microwaves or other competing wireless radio frequency devices for the best results when using any wireless transmitter.
