How to Clean Hard Water Deposits Out of My Dishwasher With Lemonade
If you do not have a household water filtration system and you run hard well water, deposits can build up inside your dishwasher. These rust stains may discolor the inside of your dishwasher, or even discolor your dishes. Powdered lemonade can help remove these stains after you scrub the debris free with a stiff brush. The lemonade will brighten the inside of your dishwasher and remove the hard water smell. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Bowl
- Water
- Dishwashing liquid
- Old toothbrush
- Dishwasher safe cup
- 2 powdered lemonade packets

Fill a small bowl with warm water and one squirt of dishwashing liquid. Dip an old toothbrush into the bowl and scrub the hard water deposits gently to loosen them. This will make it easier for the lemonade to remove the stains completely.

Empty one packet of powdered lemonade into a dishwasher-safe cup and place the cup in the middle of the top dish rack. Empty the second packet in the bottom of the dishwasher.

Run the dishwasher on a full cycle on the hottest setting possible. The water from the dishwasher will liquefy and spread the powdered lemonade around the dishwasher, clearing away the hard water deposits and brightening the inside of the dishwasher.
