How to Make a Paper Spinner Template
Most paper spinners are made from card stock or paper plates cut into a spiral, then decorated and hung with a piece of string. The design of the spinner depends on how well the spiral has been drawn and cut. Using a template to trace a spiral will allow you to make many spinners quickly and all with the same dimensions. The steps below will allow you to make a near perfect spiral every time.
Instructions

1
Tape a piece of paper to a piece of plywood.
-
2
Tie a string to a pencil. Tie the other end of the string to a nail.
-
-
3
Hammer the nail through the center of the paper into the plywood.
-
4
Wind the string around the nail clockwise until there is only about a half-inch between the pencil and the nail.
-
5
Slowly draw a circle around the nail counter-clockwise. As the string unravels, the pencil will make a nearly perfect spiral around the center of the paper.

Tips & Warnings
Rub a piece of charcoal over the back of the paper to cover the back of the template. The side of a soft B pencil can also be used.
Place the template on a piece of paper and trace over the spiral with a pencil or ball point pen. The image of the spiral will be transferred to the paper to make a spinner. After two or three spinners have been made, add more charcoal or carbon to the back of the template.
