How to Play a DVD Player Through DIRECTV

A DVD player and DIRECTV receiver can coexist with your TV.

A DVD player and a DIRECTV receiver can coexist when properly connected to the TV. The two devices may use the same inputs, but when connected correctly, the DVD player does play through the DIRECTV receiver on the same TV input. When the DVD player is turned off, the DIRECTV channels display on the screen. Once the DVD player is turned on, the DVD player takes priority over the receiver and the TV displays the DVD.

• 2 RCA cables

Instructions

1. Plug the wire that runs from the satellite through the wall into the RF (radio frequency) port labeled "Satellite In" on the back of the DIRECTV receiver.

2. Plug the red, white and yellow RCA cables into the same-colored RCA ports labeled "Composite Out" on the back of the receiver. Plug the other side of the RCA cable into the red, white and yellow RCA ports labeled "Composite In" on the back of the TV.

3. Plug the red, white and yellow RCA plugs of the other RCA cable into the RCA ports in the back of the DVD player. Plug the red, white and yellow plugs from the other side of the RCA cable into the RCA ports labeled "Composite In" on the back of the DIRECTV receiver.
