How to Change the Volume on a Motorola Q

The Motorola Q phone features Windows Mobile, the mobile version of the Windows operating system. You may want to change the ringing or media volume on your Motorola Q, in case you can't hear the sound or need to lower the volume in certain situations, such as a movie theater. Unlike most phones, the Motorola Q's volume is not controlled by buttons but rather a wheel.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the thumb wheel on the right side of the device.

    • 2

Spin the wheel down to decrease the volume or up to increase the volume. The volume you change depends on what you have opened on the phone. For example, if you're in a game, changing the volume changes the media volume. If you're on your home screen, the thumb wheel will change the ringing volume.

    • 3

Click the "Start" button and select "Settings" and "Profiles" to change the ringing volume for a specific profile. Select the profile you wish to change the volume for and then press "Menu." Click "Edit" and select "Ring Volume." Adjust the volume to the desired position.

Tips & Warnings

  • Each time you decrease or increase the volume, a bar will indicate how far you adjusted the volume. For example, if the volume is turned all the way down and you turn the volume halfway up, the bar will indicate that.
