How to Host a Masquerade-Themed Party
A masquerade party is a fun and exiting way to celebrate an important date or occasion. It can be theme-specific, such as a popular video game or free-form, so everyone can pick their own costumes and themes. This flexibility allows it to be used for Christmas, Halloween, St. Patrick's Day or any other holiday. As if those benefits were not enough, decorating for the party can be extremely fun and relatively inexpensive.

General Tips
-
1
Select a slogan for your party. It should communicate both the masquerade theme and occasion. For example, a masquerade-themed 16th birthday party slogan could be "Sweet 16 Masquerade".
-
2
Send customized, elaborate invitations. The invitation for a party helps express the celebration's tone. For example, using parchment type paper with Gothic script would aptly convey a Middle Ages theme.
-
-
3
Explain proper attire in the invitation. It's a good idea to make formal wear optional to avoid alienating those who may not feel like dressing up.
-
4
Select the ambient music. Obviously, this can vary greatly between masquerades and any music is acceptable. However, to preserve the illusion it is often advisable to use music that accents your theme.
-
5
Select the food. Themed dishes are a great option, but it can be expensive depending on the theme. If your budget isn't limitless, you can always go for common, cheap snacks without worrying, though.
Decorations
-
6
Begin by applying the base-level general decorations. These can include sheets of material colored to match your theme over your walls and furniture. Remember to leave electrical outlets, smoke detectors and alarm keypads unobstructed.
-
7
Position the electronics, lights and surfaces. Remember to keep them close to the walls to prevent congestion and accidental injury. Keep cords taped securely to the floor or walls.
-
8
Set out the tableware. Themed tableware is usually pretty cheap and freely available at most general stores.
-
9
Put the accessories into place. These can include balloons, props and anything else that you want to use to enhance the theme.
