How to Import MIDI Into Cubase

It is possible to import MIDI files into Cubase so that you can tell the sequencer which notes to play on a given MIDI track. Once the MIDI file is loaded, the VST instrument will be able to sound the notes and control information that is contained within the file. If you haven't tried to load an external MIDI file into Cubase before, you should not feel overwhelmed. With the right instruction, you can load the files into Cubase in less than five minutes.

Instructions

1. Open Cubase and go to "File," "Open Project," and select the project that you wish to add the MIDI file into from the list that appears.

2. Go back to "File," "Import," and then click on "MIDI File." Click "No" when asked if you want to save the MIDI file in a new project.

3. Choose the VST instrument that you wish to play the MIDI file by pressing "F11" on your computer keyboard and select it from the list that is generated. Verify that the "Show Inspector" tab on the left is illuminated, and you will be ready to play the MIDI file.
