Prepare leeks many different ways.

Leeks are a versatile vegetable that may be served in a variety of ways. The taste is similar to onions, yet milder. Leeks resemble green onions in flavor and texture and are often added to stews and soups. Before serving leeks, remove the base and thoroughly wash the remaining vegetable. The dark leaves and white stems are edible and make a flavorful addition to many dishes. Does this Spark an idea?

      Use them in a stir-fry. Cut your leeks into small pieces and mix them with a variety of vegetables. Season the vegetables and use a wok to stir-fry them, mixing the vegetables until they reach your desired consistency.

      Bake them. Slice and season your leaks and place them in a glass dish. Bake them at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes. Cover your leeks with cheese or your favorite sauce and serve.

      Roast your leeks Season them with olive oil and sea salt. Place them in an oven-safe dish and roast them for 30 minutes. Remove from the oven and serve.

      Eat them raw. Wash your leeks thoroughly and cut them into small pieces. Eat them plain or add them to your fresh salads.

Tips & Warnings

  • Overcooking leeks makes them soggy, so monitor them closely while cooking them.
