How to Do Chin Ups on a Total Gym

How to Do Chin Ups on a Total Gym thumbnail
Doing chinups and other exercises on the Total Gym can help tone and strengthen your muscles.

For people who like to work out, a Total Gym is an alternative to going to the gym. The Total Gym is an upper body work-out bar designed specifically for building power and strength in the arms, shoulders, back, and chest. The Total Gym, which helps tone the body, is portable and can be set up virtually anywhere. The Total Gym makes doing push-ups, back workouts, triceps dips, and more much easier at home. Another popular exercise among athletes and body builders are chin-ups, which the Total Gym also makes much simpler.

Instructions

    • 1

Adjust the level of the Total Gym according to your body's fitness level. Examine the levels offered on the Total Gym, and select the one that suits your exercise needs.

    • 2

Pull out the glide board of the Total Gym, and lay it down on the ground at one level. Adjust it to your desired incline level.

    • 3

Hook up the chin-up bar to the Total Gym using steel or hitch pins to secure the bar firmly into position. Check the stability of the bar after connecting it by rocking the Total Gym from side to side three to four times.

    • 4

Take hold of the chin-up bar firmly with both hands and lift your feet up, using your knees to add support by bending them. Stretch out your arms, and feel your back straighten out.

    • 5

Hoist your body up, allowing the glide board to move up the rail and the chin-up bar to come down to your collar-bone level. Hold this position for a couple of seconds. Relax your body, and go back into the previous position with your arms straightened. Repeat.
