Blood and Urine Carpet Stain Removal
Blood and urine are both types of protein stains that cause discoloration and, eventually, odor. Since they both can spread quickly in absorbent carpeting it's important to stabilize the stain as soon as possible for easier stain removal. By breaking down the proteins in the stains and getting rid of odor-causing bacteria, you can successfully remove blood and urine stains from your carpet. Things You'll Need
- Paper towels
- Bucket
- 1/4 tsp. clear dishwashing detergent
- Clean cloths
- Eye dropper
- Hydrogen peroxide
- 1 cup white vinegar
- Baking soda
- Vacuum

Remove blood and urine substance from the surface of your carpeting by blotting it with a paper towel. Throw out soiled paper towels and keep blotting until no more blood or urine transfers to the towel.

Stir 1/4 tsp. dishwashing detergent into 1 cup water. Wet a clean cloth with the soapy solution and sponge the blood and urine stains. Each time the stain materials transfer to your cleaning cloth move it to a clean portion or change to a clean cloth.

Press a dry cloth into the carpet at the site of the blood and urine stains. Remove as much moisture as possible with the cloth, then look to see if any stain remains.

Use an eye dropper for precise application of your stain remover. Use a few drops of hydrogen peroxide in an eye dropper to remove any urine or blood stain that remains. After dropping the peroxide onto the carpet, dab at the stain with a damp cloth to wick up the rest of the urine and blood stains.

Mix 1 cup white vinegar and 1 cup water in a bucket. Sponge the carpet to neutralize the other cleaning fluids and remove any last traces of blood and urine.

Press clean cloths into the carpeting to remove liquid from the carpet fibers. Allow your carpet to dry overnight. Cover the site of the blood and urine stains with baking soda to remove any odor left by the stains; leave the baking soda on the carpet overnight.

Vacuum your carpet to remove the baking soda.

Tips & Warnings
Use your wet vacuum on fresh blood and urine stain in your carpet to wick out the stain and flush the carpet with clean water.
Cover old blood and urine stains with pet odor neutralizer with enzymes. The enzymes break down and absorb odor-causing bacteria and make it easier for you to remove the entire stain.
