How to Download a CD to an iPod
The iTunes music platform allows users to quickly find and download music to their computer or portable music player. Music from audio CDs can be copied directly to playlists on computer hard drives or mp3 playback devices. Connect the iPod to your computer using the iPod to USB cable. If you have installed iTunes on your computer, your computer will launch this software package after detecting the iPod connection. If you have not installed iTunes, download the software package from Apple's website.

Insert the desired audio CD into your computer and select it within the "Device" tab in the iTunes interface menu located on the left side of the display. Click the "import CD" button to copy the audio from the disc into your iTunes directory.

Click and drag the audio files you have just copied into your iTunes directory onto the icon representing your iPod in the "devices" menu. Your iPod will now carry copies of these songs.

Tips & Warnings
Certain audio file types such as AIFF or WAV require significantly more memory than heavily compressed MP3 files. If the audio disc you are copying contains memory intensive file formats, download an audio converter such as Audacity to convert your songs into smaller file sizes.
Do not disconnect the iPod from your computer without ejecting the device within the iTunes menu. Improper termination of the connection between computer and iPod can result in damaged or destroyed files on the iPod.
