How to Print Food Menus

How to Print Food Menus thumbnail
Printing a menu from your home computer is simple.

Printing a menu perfectly for a professional establishment or just to impress your friends is a fairly simple process. Once you have mastered the printer settings and how to adjust them to customize your print, you will have all the tools you need to make a high caliber document. You can choose high resolution paper or card to give the menu a quality feel. By laminating your menu when you have completed it, you can protect it from food spills.

Instructions

  1. Printing

    • 1

Bring up the menu on your computer. It doesn't matter whether you have created your menu in Word, Publisher, Photoshop or a similar program. Once you go into the printer dialog box, you should be able to print your menu in the way that suits you.

    • 2

Click "File" in the menu at the top of the screen and then click "Print." Printing options should be the same or very similar whichever program you work from.

    • 3

Check in the dialog box that appears on screen that your printer's name is in the "Name" box. If not, use the drop-down menu and find your printer.

    • 4

Use the up arrow in the "Copies" box to change the number of copies to the amount you wish to print. If it is for a restaurant, print enough for the amount of tables that you have or, if its a special dinner party, print one for each guest.

    • 5

Check the "Page Range" box. If your menu is the whole document, make sure that "Whole Document" or "All" is selected. If your menu is just on one page of your document, select "Current Page."

    • 6

Click on the "Properties" tab in the upper right hand corner of the dialog box. This will bring up another dialog box. At the top of this box, it will ask you the "Media Type." Click on the drop-down tab to look at your options. If you are printing on plain paper, select this; if you are printing on high resolution paper, click on this option.

    • 7

Click on the drop-down box for "Paper Source." Click where the paper will be coming from on your printer; for example, "Rear Tray."

    • 8

Select the print quality you want, such as high, standard, fast or custom. Select the "Preview Before Printing" box to view exactly how your menu will look prior to printing. If your menu is standard letter size, just click on "Print" and you are done. If your menu is not the standard "portrait" orientation, follow instructions in the next section.

    Orientation

    • 9

Click "Page Setup" in the tabs in your "Properties" dialog box.

    • 10

Go to "Orientation" directly under the "Paper Size" box and choose which way round you would like your menu. Check the appropriate "Portrait" or "Landscape" box.

    • 11

Click "Print" as soon as you are happy with all your choices. This should bring up a preview before printing as you checked the box earlier. Check that everything is correct, click "OK" and you should have the perfect printed menu.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can use other options in the "Properties," "Page Setup" box. For instance, you can choose to print in grayscale or set your own color intensity manually.

  • Proofread your document before printing multiple copies or get someone else to check the document for mistakes.
