How to Get Smells Out of Microwaves

Use vinegar to keep your microwave smelling fresh.

Cooking in a microwave is a quick and convenient way to prepare food. However, microwaves also can become quite smelly over time, especially if you cook foods that have strong odors. Fortunately, you can rid your microwave of a foul odor quite easily using gentle, household products. This cleaning method saves you the time and expense of purchasing a cleaning product.

Things You'll Need

• Vinegar
• Spray bottle
• Sponge
• Glass bowl

Instructions

1. Fill an empty spray bottle with white vinegar and spray the inner and outer surfaces of the microwave.

2. Wipe down the inside and outside of the microwave with a cleaning sponge.

3. Fill a glass bowl with white vinegar and place it inside the microwave.

4. Microwave the vinegar for three minutes.

5. Remove the bowl of vinegar and wipe down any remaining residue from inside the microwave.
