How to Use a DS Lite for a Wii Controller

Nintendo has enabled the Nintendo DS Lite and the Wii to interact with each other wirelessly. With this feature, you can download Nintendo DS Lite games on the Wii and vice versa. Certain Wii games require extra players where you can use the Nintendo DS Lite as a supplemental controller. Setting this up requires only a few simple steps.

Instructions

1. Turn on the Nintendo Wii and click "Settings" to connect it through the wireless home network.

2. Locate the Wii Shop Channel. Select and download the free Nintendo Channel. Confirm that the Nintendo channel is on the Wii main menu page.

3. Launch the Nintendo Channel. Select the "DS Download Service." Choose the title you wish to play on the DS and click "Download."

4. Turn the power on the Nintendo DS Lite. Navigate to the main menu and choose "DS Download Play." The DS Lite will connect to the Wii. You can now play games on the Wii with the Nintendo DS Lite as the Wii controller.
